About us

A statutory pillar of Lagos State's health system.

The Lagos State Health Service Commission (LSHSC) is the statutory government body responsible for recruiting, regulating and overseeing human resources and operations across all secondary healthcare facilities — the General Hospitals — in Lagos State.

🎯

Our mandate

To recruit, regulate and manage the human resources that staff Lagos State's General Hospitals, and to oversee operational standards across the state's secondary healthcare network.

🏛️

Our position

The Commission functions as a core structural pillar under the Lagos State Ministry of Health, implementing medical policy standards and managing hospital personnel on the Ministry's behalf.

How we fit in

From ministry policy to hospital practice

Lagos State's health system runs on a clear division of labour. The Ministry of Health sets medical policy and clinical standards; LSHSC turns that policy into the people, processes and performance that keep 29 General Hospitals running.

📋

Policy is set

The Lagos State Ministry of Health defines medical policy, clinical standards and the broader health strategy for the state.

🧑‍⚕️

People are managed

LSHSC recruits, promotes and manages the doctors, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals who deliver that policy in practice.

🏥

Care is delivered

All 29 state-owned General Hospitals apply these standards directly to patients across every Lagos Health District.
